Why now: digital settlement rails meet real ownership

Digital settlement rails are moving into regulated finance. For real assets, the question is shifting from “can it move digitally?” to “what exactly moves?”

The rails are arriving

In July 2025, the GENIUS Act became law, setting federal rules for dollar-backed digital payment instruments in the United States. Digital settlement rails are moving from the edge of finance into regulated institutions.

Advisors and institutions will increasingly be asked to hold, settle and report on digital assets. Many will meet them first as digital dollars. Real-world assets are following.

Infrastructure is never the interesting part

A Roman aqueduct carried clean water from a distant source to a city. The engineering was remarkable — but what mattered was what the city could do with the water.

Digital settlement rails are the aqueduct. They move value quickly and programmably, but they don't decide what flows through them. For gold and silver, what should flow is ownership: legal title to real metal — not a representation of its price. The metal stays put. Ownership moves.

The questions that matter

As digital versions of real assets multiply, diligence comes down to four questions, in this order:

  1. What exactly do I own? A share, a claim, or title to a specific asset?
  2. Why is it better? What does ownership give me that exposure doesn't?
  3. How do I know I really own it? Which custodian, which vault, what insurance, what record?
  4. What legally protects me? Which law applies — and what happens to the asset if the issuer fails?

Where GATCo fits

GATCo issues products that answer those questions plainly. Each Gold Eagle Token (GET) or Silver Eagle Token (SET) is ownership of a specific U.S. Mint American Eagle, vaulted and insured at BlueVault, structured under the Uniform Commercial Code in Nevada, transferable digitally and redeemable for the coin.

SATCHEL, the ownership interface and infrastructure behind GET and SET, extends the same architecture to institutions and to other custody-compatible assets. Start with what digitally negotiable ownership is, or see how ownership works.
