How ownership works
- You own an Eagle. A specific 1 oz American Gold Eagle produced by the U.S. Mint.
- It sits in a vault. BlueVault vaults and insures it, allocated to you.
- You hold legal title. GATCo holds the coin as bailee and issues digital title to it, structured under the Uniform Commercial Code in Nevada.
- Ownership moves. Title transfers digitally through SATCHEL; F1R3FLY protects the ownership data.
- You can redeem. Take delivery of the physical coin, subject to program terms.
How it differs from a gold ETF
- A fund share tracks the price; GET is ownership of a specific coin.
- Fund redemption in kind is generally limited to authorized participants; you can take delivery of your coin.
- Your coin is held in the United States, at a named custodian.
Who does what
- GATCo — issuer; keeps the record of legal title.
- BlueVault — protects the asset: custody and insurance.
- F1R3FLY — protects the ownership data.
- SATCHEL — the ownership interface you and your advisor use.
Key risks
- Price: the coin's value moves with the market price of gold and can fall.
- Redemption and liquidity: redemption and transfers are subject to program terms, timing and logistics; liquidity may be limited.
- Technology and access: ownership is held and transferred through digital systems; lost credentials or system disruption can delay access.
- Counterparty and operational: the structure relies on the issuer, the custodian and technology partners performing their roles.
- Legal and regulatory: laws governing digital title and documents of title may change.
